Proxychains is a tool used in Linux, it can be used in Windows although it is primarily associated with Linux. The purpose of it is to make you anonymous.
It is not a proxy itself but it works by chaining multiple proxy servers routing your traffic through them before reaching it’s destination, each proxy server is a chain adding a layer of anonymity masking your IP address and making it very difficult to trace your original IP and online activities, this increases your privacy while browsing the internet.
Proxychains utilizes multiple proxies together including HTTP, SOCKS4, SOCKS5. Be cautious when using free proxies, ensuring they are regularly updated and reliable. For enhanced anonymity invest in commercial proxies.
It is a great tool for protecting your online privacy and is commonly used by penetration testers and ethical hackers. It has been maintained by the open-source community with contributors continuously updating the tool over time making it a sturdy and reliable tool for anonymity and security.
