Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA)


AAA stands for Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting, a structured framework to control access to systems and networks and maintain their integrity. It is the core cybersecurity practice in various IT areas, including network security, cloud computing, enterprise environments, web applications and APIs by providing secure access.

Authentication:

Confirms the identity of users by using different methods.

Authorization:

Defines the level of access to resources and what actions they are permitted to perform.

Accounting:

Monitoring activities of the users and systems for compliance and detecting of anomalies.
