Hacking Lab

Hacking lab using Kali Linux on VMware and connecting to a machine that’s hosted at HackTheBox. Use Openvpn to authenticate to the machine. It’s always a good idea to update the distro.

Have a Kali VM ready. In this demonstration I am using VMware Player. Kali is up to date with the latest version 2023.1.

The platform I am using to break into is HackTheBox but you can use whatever you, TryHackMe, etc. Download a VPN Connection file as shown below.

From your Kali, navigate to where you downloaded the file and punch in the last command, it is very important to add sudo first.

And there you have it, initialization sequence completed tells you connection is successful.

I will use this IP address for this demonstration, 10.129.2.4 from HackTheBox.

Try pinging the IP address to make sure you can reach your target.

After pinging it tell me destination host unreachable probably because ICMP is blocked but you can do a few scans with Nmap. After all you have a machine to attack.
